Meet The Team Scott Kuttenkuler By Elisha Morrison, The Saline Courier Now that classes have finally begun at the Saline County Career Technical Campus, the assistant vice chancellor at Arkansas State University Three Rivers and the rest of the staff are thrilled to have students on campus. "We are excited," said Scott Kuttenkuler, who has been working toward this since he was hired on March 1. Kuttenkuler said a building meant for students does not feel right without them in it. While he thinks the new building felt good before, now with the students in the halls, it is perfect. He praised the staff he is working with. "We have a special collection of people. They are people who are really dedicated to making it the best for the kids," Kuttenkuler said. He said opening a new place is always a heavy lift, but this team was the one to do it. During this journey of getting SCCTC open for classes, Kuttenkuler feels he has really learned the importance of working with a great team. "They have been remarkable," he said. Kuttenkuler's duties are shifting from preparing to open to 24 getting SCCTC running smoothly. They are still bringing in and installing new equipment for future classes. He said it is important to continue to build for the future. His plan is to always have a plan for growth and when they get close to achieving it raise the bar even higher. He said they are going to be preparing students for the next chapter, no matter if that is going straight into the workforce, a trade school, military or attending two-year or four year university. "We want them to succeed," he said. Kuttenkuler is originally from central Missouri. He has been in Arkansas since 2003. He got his Bachelors degree in corporate communications and Masters in communications from the University of Central Missouri. After college, he worked at the University of Arkansas at Monticello for 13 years, first as a debate coach and speech instructor, then as a fundraiser and working government relations and finally as dean of students, government relations and was over housing. 66We want them to succeed, -Kuttenkuler He went to South East Arkansas College in Pine Bluff as vice president of Student Affairs, where he serve for four and half years. He then began this job with ASU Three Rivers. According to Dr. Steve Rook, chancellor for ASU Three River, Kuttenkuler was one of about 25 applicants for the job to lead the Saline County campus. He was interviewed by a committee of people. "We interviewed some great, great candidates. Any of them could have done the position," Rook said. "Scott just brought a real energy and a desire to do this and to be a part of something."
