Meet The Team saline Computer Networking and Cybersecurity ROGRAMMING CYBER SECURITY PROGRAMMING CYBER SECURIT) ADVANCED MANUFACTURING P 11 years at what started out as Garland County Community College, but later became National Park Community College. From there I worked at MNB Bank in Malvern. I began learning client-server computer networking at Weyerhaeuser in the early 1990s. I have been heavily involved in cybersecurity for the past decade. 6.) Why did you get into your field? I got into my field quite by accident! I had gone to Dallas as a 19-year old essentially looking for any type of work. I found an advertisement in a paper that said "no experience necessary" and took a temporary position with Computer Language Research. When the time came to let all the "temps" go, they kept me on. That became a full-time position, and the rest is history! 7.) Why are you teaching at SCCTC? I am teaching at SCCTC because while I am at the end of my career in the field, I desire very much to pass on the lessons I've learned through the years to the next generation of networking professionals. The devices that connect to each other are constantly changing, but there are many underlying principles that remain the same. And the need to secure information is only going to rise. 8.) What are you most excited for about the new school? All I can say, and all I keep hearing is "I wish they'd had something like this when I was young!" The only way this community can grow--the only way we can retain our young people--is through training them to be a highly skilled workforce. It will attract business to the area, when those businesses realize there is a highly qualified, young, dynamic workforce already here, already looking for jobs in their fields of study. 9.) What can your students expect from you? My students can expect to leave this program ready to "take on the world with the knowledge and skills they will have attained during their time here. 1.) Name Kevin Hunt 2.) What will you be t teaching? Computer Networking/ Cybersecurity 3.) Where are you from originally and currently? Originally from Malvern 4.) Where did you get your education? I graduated from Malvern High School and completed my Bachelor of Science degree at John Brown University 5.) What is your career history? My career history is very long, because I'm OLD! I started working in Information Technology in 1980 at Computer Language Research in Dallas, Texas. I worked for over a decade for Weyerhaeuser, based out of the Hot Springs office before taking a job for 40 SALINE COUNTY CTE CENTER Benton, Arkans S Meet The Team saline Computer Networking and Cybersecurity ROGRAMMING CYBER SECURITY PROGRAMMING CYBER SECURIT ) ADVANCED MANUFACTURING P 11 years at what started out as Garland County Community College , but later became National Park Community College .
